Currently housed in the Chelsea Blue Room, our new collection of bold and beautiful woven chairs deserves a little explanation. Designed for the Salone del Mobile furniture fair in April, the Marni charity project ‘100 chairs’, is a series of one-off designs, hand-crafted by ex-prisoners in Colombia.

Intended to rehabilitate the craftsmen into society, and with all proceeds going to charity, the project uses salvaged materials that are woven into a series of chairs, rockers, tables and chaise longues. The collection blends traditional Colombian forms with colour patterns that are typical of the Italian fashion house. The Conran Shop has bought 30 of these original pieces and they are available in both our Marylebone and Chelsea store now, prices start at £595 for a table and £695 for a children’s chair.
Now in its second year, the 2012 project was recently nominated for the Design Museum’s 2013 ‘Design of the Year Award’.
